Open Access Policy
The journal Life of the Earth is an open access publication.
In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative, the Editorial Board provides immediate open access to all journal content as soon as it is published, since free and open access to research results promotes the global exchange of knowledge. This means that users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles.
Articles in the journal are made available under the adopted Creative Commons licence: Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). Copyright in each article remains with its author or authors.
Under this licence, users may:
- share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
- adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.
The following terms apply:
- Attribution — appropriate credit must be given, a link to the licence must be provided, and any changes made must be indicated.
- NonCommercial — the material may not be used for commercial purposes.
- No additional restrictions — no legal terms or technological measures may be applied that would legally restrict others from doing anything the licence permits.
Notes:
- Where any part of the material is in the public domain, or where the material may be used under an applicable copyright exception or limitation, compliance with the licence terms is not required.
- The licence does not guarantee permission for every possible use of the material. For example, certain rights, such as privacy or personal rights, may limit how the material can be used.

The journal does not charge authors any publication fees. Expedited publication is not available. All materials are available for online download in PDF format from the date of issue publication.
Published manuscripts may be used, copied, and cited for non-commercial purposes, provided that the name of the author or authors and the source of the borrowed material are duly acknowledged in accordance with the Code of Ethics (see the Ethics section).
