Environmental education in the exhibition space of national parks and museum-reserves: regulatory and conceptual features

The article addresses some promising possibilities of expositional interpretation of environmental problems in a cultural (cultural-anthropological) context. Its focus is on conceptual, regulatory and practical issues of environmental education activities carried out by national parks and museum-reserves. These institutions have become the main organizational and legal forms of preserving cultural landscapes in Russia, so a comparison of their work becomes possible and in demand. As a result of our analysis of sources (regulatory documents, scientific publications and official websites), the original embodiment of the dualism of Culture and Nature in the space of these state institutions has been revealed. Priority is given to natural-historical and bioecological topics in national parks (“nature”, “ecology”) and to the humanitarian component of landscape in museum-reserves (“culture”, “history”, “heritage”). Considering a wide range of practical solutions, the author determines the existing gaps in the field of methodological support of museum work and the possibilities of an interdisciplinary (systemic) approach to environmental education. The development and wider implementation of such an approach, especially in museum-reserves with a pronounced cultural context, will contribute not only to a more effective formation of ecological culture, but also to the preservation of Russia’s unique cultural landscapes as unified cultural and ecological objects.
