Towards studying D.N. Anuchin’s photo archive: the 1895 ethnographical exhibition in Prague in the photos of Moritz Adler and František Krátký

1 Lomonosov Moscow State University (Earth Science Museum)

The article continues our series of publications on the study of the photographic collection assembled by Dmitry N. Anuchin (1843–1923) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which is currently partially held in the funds of the Earth Science Museum, MSU. This study focuses on a photograph selection on 33 sheets dedicated to the Czecho-Slavonic Ethnographic Exhibition in Prague in 1895. The authors of most of these photos were D.N. Anuchin’s contemporaries — Czech photographers Moritz Adler (1849–1920) and František Krátký (1851–1924). The article examines the prerequisites for the creation, preparatory stages, goal, program, and structure of the exhibition. The role of the Czech writer F.A. Šubert (1849–1915) in organizing the exhibition is demonstrated. Descriptions of some individual photos are provided.
